Temperament, Movie Reviews

One thing I learned a long time ago is that you “can please some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”  This brings me to a word that was brought to my attention about my disposition and that I may tend to be moody, as the definition of  “temperament” is in the ole Webster dictionary.  While I do agree with this application of the definition and that it does describe me to a T some times, I think that there must be a variety of personalities in this world, to make for an interesting life.  While I never want to be negative or angry with anyone I find that sometimes positive human nature just seems to break down in my mind set.  Or, God forbid that something might come up that just bugs the hell out of me, so my disposition changes.  At any rate I must confess I am not perfect, never have been and will never will be.  But, I just keep on trucking and look forward to the time in the very near future when I am granted the ripe ole age of 75 and I can move on to the next 25 years of my life.  During that time I am sure I will not become perfect and I am sure my temperament will vary and not always stay on the perfect wave length of those around me. My goal as I tip toe into the next chapter of my life is that my temperament will have all of the bad edges shaved off, and I will not let the outside world get to me.   Again, I will try and be calm, clear, and understanding of those around me and be as good as I can be,  and as Popeye once said, “I yam, what I yam!”

Movie Reviews:

“Last Vegas”, *****, Yes, I know this type of movie just doesn’t normally get five stars but this really is a very good movie.  Not an Oscar winner or epic but just an enjoyable movie to watch and see how the “old men” thing is handled.  Since I am within a whisper of the ages of these icon stars, Michael Douglas, Robert Deniro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline, my curiosity was built up when I saw the trailer.  Well these writers did a great job with the script and each actor fit perfectly in the story line.  These guys had been best friends since they were teenagers and remained in touch with each other through the years.  As life had taken its’ toll on them they had survived and decided to join cool friend Michael Douglas for his wedding to a 32 year old in Las Vegas.  All of the magic of getting these four to Vegas at the same time was evident and then when they got there the story fit each one of their personalities.  End of story they tested their friendship in ways they never imagined.  It is a go see must!  Rated PG-13  for sexual content and language.

“The Counselor”, *, A really bad movie that wasted some real good acting talent.  Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz could not save this script based on a drug deal gone bad in El Paso/Juarez.  Unknown actor Michael Fassbender played the lead, but was also wasted.  Rated R for graphic violence, some grisly images(you mean when they cut the head off of motorcycle drug deliverer with a thin wire across the road?), strong sexual content and language.

“Prisoners”, ****, Hugh Jackman as the distraught parent and Jake Gyllenhaal as the detective, do a great job in this drama about the kidnapping of two young girls and the many aspects of trying to determine who committed this crime.  A long movie but worth the wait for the ending.  It is a dark, dynamic and disturbing crime effort.  Rated R for disturbing violent content, including torture, and language throughout.
